France 2000
May 14, 2000

Its a foggy Sunday morning as we leave

Rennes to head south-west from the city.

We spend midday in Broceliande and the

Forest of Paimpont - where, according to

songs of the Middle Ages, the sorcerer

    Merlin once lived.

We drive along the narrow country lanes

through the forest and fields of the area.

By evening, we arrive at Carnac, a seaside

resort town, right on the Atlantic Ocean, and

    a beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon.

By now, we've discovered that our few words

French is more than enough to convince

the locals to happily switch to speaking English!
